MINUTES of the Golden Bay Community Board MEETING
held 1.00pm, Monday, 12 May 2025 at Tākaka Office, 78 Commercial Street, Takaka |

3.1 Helen Bracefield and Warwick Bracefield – Community Infrastructure |
Ms Bracefield spoke about public health – reduction in water testing, public toilet cleaning, and removing doggy do bags and bins. She raised health concerns regarding infants and children being exposed to dog faeces. Mr Bracefield spoke on behalf of Inga Bolt, and raised public health concerns relating to roundworm and puppies. |
Chair Langford declared an interest regarding Item 8.1 – Discretionary Fund Applications Golden Bay Boys and Girls Show and Board Member Hewison declared an interest regarding the Golden Bay Arts Council.

Mr Wells spoke to a PowerPoint Presentation and answered questions. |
Mr Struthers spoke to a PowerPoint Presentation regarding risks to all road users in Golden Bay. Questions and discussion included: · Consenting processes · Zone of impact considerations · Speed limits – 50km vs. 40km and the importance of participation in speed management consultations · The current review of the New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement. |

Team Leader - Regulatory Support, Shannon Green spoke to a PowerPoint Presentation on Dog Control responsibilities at Tasman District Council. |
Chair Langford presented the report and noted a late item for discussion in relation to the removal of an old shed at Rototai. The Board supported removal of the old shed at Rototai. The Board discussed the operational decision to remove the Waitapu toilet (located on Waka Kotahi – NZTA land). The Board acknowledged the reasons for the removal of the toilet.
Lynne Hall provided a short update to the Board regarding the proposed Pakawau Playground and feedback staff had received. Action: Lynne Hall to advise the Board when protected trees in Golden Bay were scheduled for review. Action: Chair Langford to progress protected trees as an agenda item to another meeting. |

Chair Langford Horticultural Officer – Motueka & Golden Bay, Lynne Hall (Zoom) Lynne Hall provided an update to the Board special projects. Deputy Chair Knowles provided an update regarding Te Whare Mahana Trust’s recent invitation from the Board to attend strategy meetings and highlighted the role they play regarding mental health in Golden Bay. Action: Deputy Chair Grant Knowles to follow up with the builder (commercial fence replacement project) – one month timeframe for builder to progress the work
Action: Lynne Hall to update the Special Projects Updates report. |
