1       OPENING, WELCOME

The Chair, Councillor Butler, welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with a karakia.

Subcommittee Member Smith declared an interest in the Golden Bay Community Arts Council applications and abstained from the decision of these applications.

Subcommittee Member McLeod declared an interest in the Motueka Community Development Trust application and abstained from the decision of this application.

5.1    Consideration of 10 July 2024 applications

Community Partnerships Co-ordinator, Ms Evans report was taken as read.

The Subcommittee discussed the applications and allocated the following amounts to the Creative Communities Fund:

 

Carleen Ebbs and Gabriela Glapska - European Art Song Recital

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $1,000 was appropriate.

 

Cathy Irons - Douce Ambiance

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $500 was appropriate.

 

Dani Hedges – Artist in Residence

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $1,000 was appropriate tagged to artist fees, panels, brushes and fastening to the wall. On condition of getting a letter/email of support from Rohan for fixing on the walls.

 

Dani Hedges – Empowering Women Mural

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was a lower priority. The Subcommittee suggested this application be refined and resubmitted later in the year.

Action: Subcommittee Member Nicholls to liaise with the applicant about an application to the Motueka Arts Council for 10 hours to help develop the project further before reapplying to the Creative Communities fund.

 

Dani Hedges – Community Twilight Art Market

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $1,000 was appropriate. The Subcommittee also recommended adding a stall fee of $10, plus a donations box.

 

 

Emma Hunter with BrainHug Trust - Visual Social Emotional Regulation Tool

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was ineligible.

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $750 was appropriate.

 

Golden Bay Community Arts Council - Bay Art 2024 and Young@Art

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $2,000 was appropriate.

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was a lower priority.

 

Golden Bay Pottery Club – towards a new kiln

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was ineligible.

 

Motueka Community Development Trust – Music Studio

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was ineligible.

 

Motueka Creatives - Trewavas Street Art Walk 2024

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $1,275 was appropriate.

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $800 was appropriate.

 

Nelson Civic Choir Incorporated - Choral Magnificence

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $1,500 was appropriate.

 

Nelson Festivals Trust - 2024 Nelson Arts Festival Motueka Community Outreach Programme

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $2,500 was appropriate.

 

Nelson Symphony Orchestra Ltd - Orchestral Dances

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $800 was appropriate, tagged to the Sunday collaboration with students from ‘Ballet Nelson’.

 

Onekaka School of Blacksmiths - school holiday programme

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $700 was appropriate.

 

Tapawera Area School - Kapa Haka uniforms

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was ineligible.

 

Tasman Environmental Trust - creating a mural celebrating our natural world

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was a lower priority. The Subcommittee suggested they consider reapplying when the details of the project have been further developed and other funders have showed a commitment.

 

Te Pania Te Kawa McLetchie - workshop to design and create a skateboard

The Subcommittee considered the amount of $800 was appropriate.

 

The Village Theatre Inc Society - USB3.0 dock

The Subcommittee declined this application as it was ineligible.
